Winds were near perfect though everybody thought the Pamilico was
impressive at maybe 3' and rough. We had about steady 15 or so all day
with gusts into the 20s. Mostly from the North but clocking toward the
NE late in the day.
No new record but the top two from last year
reversed places. It was funny because last year's winner was way in
the lead rounding into the Pamlico and sort of lost his nerve and
stopped and took his rig apart and stowed it. Even paddling the rest
of the way he was a not too distant second.
The first place boat was
a 25 year old Phoenix river kayak.
The first statistical correlation
of all three winners is that all of them including you have sailed with
a 36 BATWING and BOSS and no other sails. All of the 2 and 3 sail guys
finished down the list. The highest finisher so far with multiple rigs
was this year and was a Klepper double with one guy and a BOSS BATWING
ketch rig.
